UPDATE: please book float trips through a livery. Happy Mohawk logs visitors and tracks their return. The $35 per person is well worth peace of mind, someone waiting for you at the take-out and safety on the river. This is A local treasure! Peaceful float on the White River through the Huron-Manistee National Forest land for an hour was absolutely beautiful. Every staff member was friendly and provided information about the river, experience and suggestions. Excited to return again!
We took two canoes and went on what was supposed to be a 2 and a half hour ride. Their instructions are given by a 20 ish year old due that told us 4 sentences, threw us lifejackets and said have fun. They did not tell us the river was blocked by trees, some spots we had to completely duck under them to pass them. In the first half before you reach the campground there is what they call the maze where the guy said any way we want would bring us out and then after to stick to the left. That is not true at all.
