Worthy side trip on our way to West Virginia Penitentiary. There are restricted areas, and a chain link fence blocking your immediate view, but if you walk the river line and look up— wow, what a sight! Bathrooms were closed but perhaps normally accessible. Picnic tables, trash cans, and shade trees! Some older things on display in an area to the south side of the parking lot. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. A bonus: while we were there, a barge was coming through; this is likely a common occurrence and worth seeing!
Great place to relax. Very beautiful and educational for children

Lots of history here and fun place to explore.
