Super easy hike with my younger children. Windy roads lead up to the parking lot. Make sure you take lots of bug spray! Views were amazing and well worth the hike. The entire trail has cell service, just not the rest of the drive, so make sure you get your destination ahead of time.

I absolutely love the idea of having that observatory up there! The views are some of the best in Va. So much good hiking in the area as well. Unfortunately, right now the observatory is closed. there are some pretty major structural repairs that need to be done on the building and support columns.. im really not sure if the county has a way to pay to do the repairs as of right now either.. So the fates of that really cool spot and building are up in the air..but fingers crossed and ill even bet someone will be raising money... read more

Fantastic. Just do it! I saw a witch hazel tree as well as Pa maples. Very cool
