Getting them to do the job promised is a difficult task for the homeowner. While they may be capable, they can be very sloppy and are not detail oriented... Owner lacks managerial skills and passes expenses of his incompetence on to homeowner. In my case, knowingly did not plan to complete job and left me hanging to let it sit over winter. Mind you, job began in June with best of relationship and hopes. Bottom line...expenses are high in more ways than one.
