This gym has really started to go downhill. The machines are often broken and take months to fix. There’s no room for weight lifting and they close the upstairs often for “classes” that you have to pay for. The hours are listed to open at 7:00am on Saturday, yet there’s people waiting outside at 8:15am with no communication and no one insight. Don’t even bother trying to cancel your membership early either, they won’t let you. Really sad as this used to be a great facility.
Avoid the trainer Paul. Dude will walk under your cables while in the middle of cable flies, then try to yell at you in front of the 90 year old woman he’s supposed to be training. “Sir, it’s ok, I know what I’m doing!” I told him it wasn’t ok and he laughed in my face and said, “you’ll be fine.” In 30 years of working out, I’ve never seen such blatant disregard for safety, others’ personal space, or disrespect of someone’s workout. He has zero business being a trainer or working in a gym.
I’ve been giving this gym a fair chance, but the lack of equipment maintenance is becoming hard to overlook. The Smith machine has been out of order for over a month with no apparent urgency to repair it. On top of that, many of the pads on the equipment are ripped. Not only does it make the gym look run-down, but torn upholstery is difficult to properly sanitize and can harbor sweat and bacteria. I had a very disappointing experience at Hancock Wellness Center. During my visit, I found the staff to be unprofessional and, at times, unnecessarily rude. The communication felt inconsistent, and it seemed like rules were enforced selectively depending on the situation and the individual. As a customer, I value respect, fairness, and clear expectations—unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
