We've called Halsted Flats home for over a year, and it's been an absolute dream. The building is stunning, but the real showstopper is the breathtaking views. Extremely shady business practices and rental agreements. Advertised a rate for a specific unit available now online but it is actually only available for 30% more than advertised I was informed after touring. (2bd listed as 3,700 was informed it is for terms lengths not available and instead it is $4700 for the cheapest option) Also, tons of hidden fees from "included" utilities costing $200+ a month to parking being about 50% more than the area average to exorbitant pet fees and pet rent. Many reviews here seem fake, which seems to be a trend with these bigger apartment complexes in the city. Seems to be the only way to entice people to take a tour. $3k for a one bedroom? $2.2k for a studio? Location is great, but when you look at the offerings, it’s a bar and club scene. I don’t think the clientele that is looking for that, is also looking to spend an exorbitant amount of their income on rent. Even so, with the standard being x3 the rent price, you’re expecting people to be making $6.6k a month to live here ... read more
