My daughter drove her car back from college with no AC about a year ago. I took her car to our usual mechanics which they diagnosed with a leak and wrote up a pricey quote to change the hose and refill the car with Freon, but said that there was a possibility it would be a bad compressor and wouldn’t know until they fixed the leak.
