I recently was passing through the area on my way to Wisconsin from Tennessee when the bearing in the differential on my truck went bad. I noticed a humming for a long time, which I ignored (don't do that!) and when I finally pulled into a rest stop, it was making a terrible sound and smoke was coming from that area under the truck.
