Naoki Hayashi is a self-taught artist based in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Gyotaku is the traditional method of Japanese fish printing and dates back to the mid-1800s. It was used by fishermen to record their catches. Naoki uses the same direct printing method to creating one of a kind pieces, each reflecting his signature style. We had the pleasure of meeting Naoki today and had a great time speaking with him. Super passionate about his craft and it shows. He was really helpful and patient while we picked out a piece of art to purchase. We almost left when we didn't see him in his studio but gave him a call and are really glad we did.
