Sara was my therapist when I was struggling to stay married. Her kindness, compassion, and judgement free listening was absolutely essential to helping me develop objectivity about my situation and have the courage to make the difficult decision to end my marriage. And, most importantly through couples counseling she helped us engage in that divorce process with grace and compassion and a future of co-parenting that has been a gift to my ex-spouse and myself - as well as our children.
Dr. Gurganus is a gifted and kind therapist. She is extremely intuitive and able to assess and treat issues in an effective manner. Dr. Gurganus helped me to work through childhood and marital issues and I believe the work (including several sessions with EMDR) opened many doors for me emotionally which allowed me to create a successful business and take risks that I would have otherwise turned away from. I would highly recommend her!
My experience with Sara Gurganus was one of the most positive in a long trajectory of mental health providers. She is kind and considerate. A previous review mentions how little she did EMDR on her. But Ms. Gurganus may have been preparing the client to experience the trauma. Try her again. Tell her you are ready.
Dr Garganus promised to provide EMDR to treat active symptoms of trauma. I spent close to $3,000 for at least 10 one hour sessions over the past 6 months, and only received about 10 minutes of EMDR treatment in total. I exhibited, reported, and continue to suffer from severe amxiety symptoms including facial twitching, chest pressure, tearfulness, disabling anxiety, and sleep disorders. Her billing mistakes cost me another $1,000.
