I sold my home in Metairie, LA in June 2025. I had to complete a request for cancellation to receive my refund. The cancellation was completed on Jan 2, 2026. I have yet to receive my refund. They continue to tell me that a check has been cut. Gulf States was sending mail to the house I sold last year confirming the cancellation & telling me that the refund had been sent. NOLA insurance agent here, and I just want to share that working with Gulf States is always top notch. First, it's one of few carriers where the underwriters are not mysterious creatures hiding behind a smoke screen. They answer phones and help solve problems. They are friendly and incredibly helpful. Policy was canceled for having things next to my house or under the patio (two neatly stacked sets of tires, grill, ice chests, etc) for “theft liability”. The customer service manager was absolutely no help fixing the issue. If you want to have anything in your yard definitely don’t go with these people.
