We had a hospital-directed ambulance transfer following an emergency. Our insurance paid Guardian Medical Services the full allowed amount, and our Explanation of Benefits shows a patient responsibility of $0. Despite this, we received a bill for the remaining balance. Balance billing is illegal under the No Surprises Act. They were paid $1700 of a $2700 bill. That is absolutely fair. We had no ability to choose the ambulance. This company charged $1, 128.00 for ground mileage for a 30 mile trip. That doesn't include the other $1300 they charged for rolling my husband into the vehicle and then rolling him to his bed in the rehab facility. I will say they did manhandle him to his bed. I am happy to pay reasonable charges but I find this outrageous
My infant daughter was transported from Haymarket Hospital to Inova Fairfax. The providers were extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. However, this company practices predatory billing. We received a bill for $4294.00 after insurance paid $1041.70 for a 30 minute ambulance ride. If you think there is any chance your child or adult for that matter may need to be transferred for a higher level of care, please go straight to a bigger hospital to avoid the risk of needing to use this company.
I highly recommend Guardian Medical Services for any medical transport needs. This company goes above and beyond, and they are true angels. We were in need of transport services for my father, who is a retired police captain, and they came in our time of need.
