GRUMPYS – TRYING IT TODAY, LETS SEE, SHALL WE, OH I AM SO EXCITED OOOOOOOOOOOWEEEEEEEEEE
soulless atmosphere, poor service: AVOID – This is almost the exact opposite of the Grumpy's in NE Mpls, with the exception of the surly staff attitude. Where the NE bar is cramped, this place seems empty with 20 people in it. It's hard to call this a "neighbourhood bar", because almost nobody lives around there. One thing that the Grumpy's chain seems to encourage is a lousy attitude toward customers. It starts when you park in the back - a surly old guy will confront you. When you pass that gauntlet, you will sit for about... read more
grumpy is right – i won't be going back. a grumpy bartender is not worth my time. after saying i don't like a certain type of beer, he brought one over. i thought it was a joke or that maybe he liked it and wanted me to try it? i should have clarified. my husband took a few sips, as did i - but i don't think we even finished it. at the end of the night when i didn't want to pay for it, he said, "i hate complainers" and took about 20 minutes running around complaining to his fellow bartenders before he actually knocked it off... read more
Tots! – Now, I've been to Grumpy's a handful of times and I will agree - don't go after a Twins Game. Menu is VERY limited, but took some friends here for lunch recently and they loved it! Everyone had a burger and I had the El Paso Tuna Melt. Food came quick, was delicious, and attentive service. The drinks poured in the evening are strong enough and at a good price. I recommend for the food and drinks. Lots of fried stuff if that's what you're into.
Stay away for Twins games. – Avoid Grumpy's on Minnesota Twins game days. Grumpys has sold their soul to Bobby and Steve's Auto World and now charges you a parking fee to eat or drink there before games.
The pub grub and blaring jukebox at this downtown dive will get you out of that grumpy mood. – In Short This is the third incarnation of Grumpy's, joining the original Coon Rapids and northeast Minneapolis locations. There's a full menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches and soups that pad the stomachs of families and friends who come before a trip to the Dome. It also serves myriad local and regional brews, as well as the usual suspects, all available on tap. The jukebox features a wide range of rock and country music, some of ... read more
Go here. – Old Speckled Hen on tap, great music, mixed crowd, yummy food. Free parking!
Alternative Local Feel – You never know what you will see at Grumpy's. They have some of the best food in town, and a great innovative drink selection. The staff is prompt and friendly. The people watching is amazing. Parking is usually not a problem. The patios make it divine. The music is occassionally hard-core.
Out of town but felt at home – After deciding to go to this bar based on this webpage, we weren't sure what to expect. But as soon, as we walked in - we felt right at home. Our waiter was very friendly, a little overly chatty and in fact, from the state we were from. Grimpy's has a great jukebox, the problem was, you couldn't hear it from all spots in the bar. It was a strange blend of alt kids with tattoos mixed in with Vikings Fans who just came in from the game. Everyone seemed to get along - so it was all good.
