I have a roadmap of historical fusions on my vertebrae since 1997. My first visit was organized, friendly and gave me hope which NJ doctors couldn’t do. And now I am 5 months post op thanks to Dr. Baum and his team. My back hasn’t felt this good in 6-7 years. 7 months post op now. I will continue to add. If your back hurts, go to him Before. I have had scoliosis since I was about 13 and had a spinal fusion at 17 (which failed and was a lateral approach). I am now 38. The screws had been pulling away from my spine year after year. About 20 surgeons told me to leave it alone, that it was too complex of a case and not to touch it. I finally found Dr. Baum. Visiting Lenox Hill Hospital is not stressful even though you go there with your medical concern. Neurosurgery department rooms resemble the science. Calm, attractive and full of meaning pictures and furniture attract the visitors. Meeting Dr.Baum is another great experience. He's very professional and caring surgeon. We are very thankful for his dedication and support.

I showed up to my appointment early and ended up waiting over an hour past my appointment time to see him. There was no apology given when he finally entered the room. I have a somewhat complex condition and he told me I may never find the answer I'm looking for with regard to a diagnosis and treatment for my symptoms. He did go over the pros and cons of surgery but I did not learn anything new from the visit and did not feel my concerns were fully addressed.

My mother had a5hrs spine surgery so far so good . thank god and doctor Baum and other neurosurgeons that participated in the surgery the staff From his medical assistant in the office to the operating staff in the hospital thank you so much god bless you very professional, respectful and very attentive to his patient (my mom).thank you
