My wife had trigger finger surgery - a 10 min easy procedure. Dr. Halko initialed the wrong arm and was about to do an invasive surgery on her. He didn't know her name and then thought she was someone else. The outcome of her surgery has been awful. I can't prove it was Dr. Halko who messed up her hand but if I had been able to be there, we would have walked out and found another surgeon. Maybe she didn't even have trigger finger - at this point we will never know for sure. I have so much anger about this situation.

He seemed so caring but what he did is reprehensible and unethical. Nothing can be done to change what this man did to our family but we are going to do what we can to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone else.

Dr. Halko did the surgery on my son’s hand 3 years ago. The surgery damaged his dominant hand so badly that he will never be able to get full functioning in it again. Physical therapy helped some but sports and other activities are out of the question. Dr. Halko never discussed the negative possible outcomes from the surgery and his response when asked about it was that it was in the consent form. He talked a lot about my injury but never told me what he was going to do in surgery. I found out from the surgery consent form and when I asked him about it he said if we don't discuss what is in the consent form then you don't have to go through with the surgery. Needless to say, I have a new doctor.
