I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Nurse Jess (from New Zealand) and Dr Chris for the exceptional care I received when I was recently transported by QAS due to chest pain. The standard of care and treatment was excellent, as it has always been at GPH; however, Nurse Jess was particularly outstanding, and Dr Chris was equally exceptional. The medical side of the center was very good, but the person we saw on our arrival, who got us to sign a financial form without proper explanation, and the supervisor we rang a few days later, was rude and talked over us when we tried to explain/complain about the unexpectedly high invoices. This is first and foremost a money making business, and not a good place to go when you are sick and vulnerable.

The doctor and nurses were very professional and caring, but the “admin” experience was and continues to be a nightmare. The person at reception was abrupt, giving minimal information about the medical process, and ZERO information about the cost, or what could be claimed. The only cost I was informed of was $200 “contribution “ advised by the radiographer. Total cost was $1187.65, of which so far I have received $92.80 from Medicare, with a further $368 possible but disputed by them. Of course I expected some out of pocket ... read more
