Their online site works very well, but if you primarily use a debit card for your day to day transactions - BUCKLE UP. I can't even buy 5 gal of diesel for my tractor, then 5 gal (different can) of NO Ethanol fuel for my lawn mower without their fraud watch team shutting my account down. 5 TIMES THIS YEAR, I've had to get in touch with them and jump through hoops to get my debit card reactivated. I recently discovered a data breach on another online service, unrelated to my bank. Using due diligence I informed my bank and closed and reopened another account. They then said I COULD NOT USE THEIR ONLINE BANKING until I have my computer scanned for viruses. How can I secure my account if I have no access to my finances?!?! DONE with you GSB. I'll go where they support me better.

We took out a loan for a new truck from Great Southern in October of 2018. Paid like clockwork. Then, in 2020, we started paying 2 or 3 months ahead of each payment due date AND PROVIDED SEPARATE PAYMENT COUPONS TO MAKE SURE THEY JUST DIDN'T APPLY THE EXTRA PAYMENTS TO PRINCIPAL, we even MADE SURE THE TELLERS IN JOPLIN, MISSOURI KNEW THESE WERE SEPARATE PAYMENTS But Great Southern loves to play 'gotcha' and would apply it principal anyway, and THEN send MULTIPLE COMPUTER GENERATED LATE PAYMENT NOTICES never acknowledging tha... read more

My branch where I have banked at for years refused to issue me a cashiers check that I needed in the morning, after I arrived a couple minutes after the lobby closed the prior evening. I was told it was "policy", but I have not been able to find this policy anywhere. They sent me around town asking other businesses for cashiers checks and was told they did not issue them. When I speak with the tellers in person they are wonderful. I just had a horrible experience with someone over the phone. When I changed my address, they changed all of my mothers account addresses and then got the State wrong on the address as well. I was very clear on the phone when I changed my address which account it was for and what my new address was. When I called to clear it up, the man did not apologize and was very rude and condescending in the way he spoke to me. I found that odd considering they made a mistake. ... read more

It's a great bank: parking is close by; always a very friendly teller; never have to wait within 4-5 min for a teller who is customer oriented.; convenient to where we live; attractive building; Wish we had higher interest rates like those in Norfolk at EVB.

This bank is no good. On two separate occasions they have "lost" my deposits. Customer service is polite, but not helpful. With all the other banks in this area, you would be wise to make a different choice than great southern.
