History Established in 1937. Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative, Inc. was founded in 1937 as a result of the Rural Electrification Act of 1935, part of President Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal" legislation aimed at pulling our country out of the Great Depression. Fucking scum bags said 4-6 weeks to hook up the power to my mother's house we had built. Been almost 9 weeks now and the trench for the power line is all that's been done. Then, the customer service rep wanted to give us attitude after we called to ask again "when's the power gonna get turned on" only to be told that a SEPERATE TICKET needed to be put in for that which we were never told. When a competitor sets up shop in the area, definitely switching over. Fuck these people.
We have a small old farmhouse with window units and electric space heaters in the winter and if we have to run the heaters or the ac units our monthly bill for just two of us is $400+ per month. They have a monopoly so they relish overcharging their customers If possible go solar or to another electric company. Almost every electric storm we lose power, and lose wifi & the internet for sometimes for a week before we can get them back out there.
Heartfelt THANK YOU to the crew that worked, in the nasty weather, to restore my electricity last night. GCEC crews are awesome!
GCEC corrected our power outage in an extremely timely fashion this evening! We are blessed to have such an amazing provider. Had they not responded as quickly, we would have lost an entire deep freeze full of food. Thank you!!!!
Insane monopoly of ripping off the community! No choice to select your own provider... They are charging customers 3x what others pay. How is this acceptable??? I know people paying $70 and I am paying $250. Outrage
A car accident knocked the power out to our area and David McGinnis came to our house and let us know what was going on. Offered to put us up in a hotel for a night or two because he wasn’t sure if they would be able to restore power to our house and also because we have 2 small children. David and his men got the power back on within a couple of hours and he kept in contact with my husband via text to let him know the progress! Thank you so much David for your kindness and generosity!
Extremely disappointed. Highest bill ever! And I don't get the extra $40 in fees they added on...
To the GCEC crew who worked for hours Thanksgiving morning to restore our power, thank you !!
Lost power long before daylight- GCEC crew was out and had it back on within the hour. Spoke to a real live person who called to make sure all was well. Thank you!!!
