I am here on July 16th, 2025, and the big question is, on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm, is the Gratiot County Fair for Youth even running? As I drove around trying to hunt down the entrance, which it turned out is well hidden in the SE corner of the fairgrounds, just east of the Alma Armory, I realized that NO OTHER GATES were open. I was very disappointed in the lack of care from everyone who puts this fair on. From the 4-H superintendents "not feeling fairy" and doing their jobs half way. Making kids spend days on informational boards that nobody would hang up. Superintendents leaving their responsibilities to exhibitors while they left the grounds. Exhibitors grading their piers work. Exhibitors missing shows in the hog barn because nobody is calling classes, while their are 4 voulenteers, standing around chit chatting. The fair was a complete disappointment this year. I feel terrible for the teens that look forward to the carnival because it was a terrible disappointment this year. Not sure where the ball was dropped, but the carnival portion is not worth your money. The animals were great like always.
