My 14 year old son (who is an avid rock climber) went through a frustrating four month period of injuring and re-injuring a finger strain which began in August of 2023. Though he was seen by doctors soon after the injury, and strictly followed the guidance of a sports medicine doctor and hand therapist, my son found himself in a frustrating and worrying cycle of partial healing and re-injury. He worried that his finger had gotten irreversibly weak and that he would never be able to climb like he did before. All of this chang... read more

I had been suffering from nagging pain in my right forearm and elbow due to rock climbing and job related overuse for several months. I then managed to strain the same arm while training and was experiencing significant acute pain. I knew just enough about injury rehab to be dangerous, so I tried to manage it on my own with moderate rest and antagonist muscle training. Over the next 4 weeks the pain increased and migrated upstream to my shoulder and was seriously impacting my climbing, as well as daily tasks. My approach was... read more

Esther is a brilliant PT. I've had a nagging injury for 13 years and seen multiple PTs without much progress. Esther approached my injury differently than any other PT, provided thoughtful exercises in a perfectly organized google sheet and made sure I understood all the theory behind the exercises. We've been working together (remotely) for several months and I am seeing progress I was told (by other PTs and MDs) would never happen! I wish I had seen her sooner. Don't hesitate - she is fantastic and you won't regret seeing ... read more

Esther, I just wanted to say thank you so much for working with me this spring. When I injured my finger I felt totally hopeless and like I would never climb hard again. After talking to you, seeing Katy in SLC, and continuing rehab, I ended up having a great season at Maple. So THANKS! I really appreciate your help.

Basically, I did not know what I was dealing with until I went in for an MRI, which came positive for bulging L4-L5 with annular fissure and protruded L-5-S1 discs both extending into the thecal sac with mild bilateral foraminal stenosis. Prior to that I was seeing PT Amy who, in my opinion, completely misdiagnosed me by prescribing wrong exercises such as forward flexion and advanced backbends that really messed me up. After roughly 7 sessions I was getting nowhere (exhausted, tired, weak) even though Amy was telling me tha... read more
