We had an injury on the BDR between Cuba and Grants and ended up having to tap out and call for help. We made it out, but the bikes spent a moonless night out in open range. The next morning Steven picked me up at the hospital, we grabbed breakfast at Maverik — honestly the best pizza I’ve ever had — and then headed out to recover the bikes. Not all hunts go to plan. This is my elk hunt 2025. The morning I got on elk, a handful of cows and one small bull. On a high about early success went to look at another spot for the evening hunt and my front right shock broke off and hit my fuse box exposing a wire which created a short. Ended up having to use a back country tow company to pull me out. time lost and added expenses killed the hunt but I am lucky that Steve with Off the Edge Recovery in Grants, NM was there! Super thankful to Steven for all his kindness and willingness to rescue my family and I while stuck in deep snow, no matter the time of day. We ended up having someone else help us out, but Stephen ensured and checked back in to make sure he didn’t need to come and rescue us, even if it was as late as midnight! So appreciative of his willingness to help, after being turned down by several companies all day.
