This stretch of the Patuxent is part of the Patuxent River Trail - a paddling trail. You must have a PG county permit to access the boat launch by car/use the boating parking lot. I didn’t know this before driving an hour to the park. I called the office and asked if I could buy a permit over the phone and get the gate code. I even offered to park my car at the main parking lot, if I could just pay to get access to the ramp so I didn’t have to awkwardly hike my gear down. They said no. Inaccessible at 4pm on a saturday. Gates locked.
The sides of the river get very muddy and slippery to the point that it's impossible to launch. A dock needs to be put in like the one at Queen Anne
