We had a wonderful stay at the Gosby House Inn in Monterey. The staff was so nice and welcoming. We arrived at around 4 PM, just in time for the complimentary wine & cheese hours! Don't skip this - it was wonderful! The room was beautiful, very clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared. The whole place has a warm and welcoming atmosphere – highly recommend!
Stayed there many years. This time was a not good experience. We stayed in the carriage room and we had a balcony. My wife leaned into each other to have a romantic kiss and the railing gave way and we could've fallen to the street crushing our heads. I had to pull my love one away from falling. There was no reaction from the staff and all they said was they would send a maintenance person to fix it. All he did was put a screw in there. Excellent location. Within very short walking distance to a couple of great restaurants (Fandango and La Mia Cucina Ristorante). Cozy rooms. We often try to get the room with it's own outside/street entrance and porch with a swing, but had a second floor room with a small balcony this last time. It was really nice. Breakfast was great each morning and they offer wine, cheese, and cookies from 4-6pm. I hope I got those times right. Very nice place to stay.
The customer service of the Gosby Inn is better than at the five star hotels we've stayed at!! We checked in for a two-night stay, however we had a problem with our room. We thought we were going to have to eat the cost of the second night because we absolutely couldn't stay. However, they were very accommodating, did not make us feel like we were inconveniencing them in any way, and graciously moved all our belongings to the new room while we were out that day.
