Amazing cabin; excellent communication from owners; and the Whooping Cranes, oh my! Photo is a view of Whooping Cranes from the kitchen window!
We loved our second year staying in the Whooping Crane. We have already booked 2027! It had everything we needed to cook ,sleep and relax. We enjoyed sitting on the deck to watch the sunrise over St. Charles Bay and all the birds coming and going flying right over the house we stayed in. We saw whooping cranes, sand hill cranes, rosette spoonbills, pelicans, herons and whistler ducks all from our deck. The property was clean and comfortable. The views were truly breathtaking… if you want to see whooping cranes. The hosts were very accommodating and communications were excellent. Highly recommended.
THE BEST location for viewing Whooping Cranes. During our 2-day visit, we were at three other locations where people go to see Whooping Cranes, but we ONLY saw them at Goose Island Flats. From OUR PORCH!! Hosts Tim and Melissa have high porch chairs, perfect for sitting with a cup of coffee and your binoculars or scope as you watch the whoopers in the field or flying overhead. This is a perfect spot to enjoy all the coast has to offer... the bay(fishing, hunting, sightseeing, photography), the whooping cranes in their winter habitat(along with sandhill cranes and roseate spoonbills), and access to a resort town full of artists and good food. I hesitate to sing its praises for fear there will never be availabilityin my future. Tim and Melissa are great hosts thinking of every detail for a comfortable stay.
