Despite its Hollywood connections, this franchise's focus is on pumping iron, not newfangled razzle-dazzle. In Short The Terminator and the Incredible Hulk (aka Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno) lifted weights at the gym's Venice, California, flagship years ago, but even today, customers frequenting charter locations are bound to encounter serious muscle. Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training rema... read more
Bad Business! Horrible Company! I have had many issues with this gym but the cause of my canceling is the truely dangerous daycare. Completely incompetent staff and management. Its baby jail in there, kids getting hit and picked on without intervention or too little to late. Shamefully I've been putting my daughter in this place off and on for 4months, so many times i felt uneasy leaving her or i'd pick her up and she'd be visably shaken (once she was chewing on a rock the perfect size to choke her!) Today I witness a employ... read more
Worst service of any gym I've ever been a member I've been a member of many gyms over the years and have been pretty satisfied with most. However the Waco Gold's gym starts to treat its members like trash the minute you've signed the contract. The front desk is usually staffed by brash teenagers who somehow look down on everyone and are more interested in watching the tv in the desk than listening to your concerns or questions. The general manager Brown is more concerned with signing new customers than with listening to exis... read more
Poor quality and deceptive practices I would avoid this gym. The quality of their equipment has gradually deteriorated, yet their prices have increased. Additionally, they have a deceptive cancellation policy. You have to give 30 days notice (meaning you have to pay for at least one month you don't want). Additionally, they pre-charge you for an extra month. You essentially need to cancel 3 months in advance in order to not lose your money. Most people cannot anticipate the need to cancel that far out so it is essentially st... read more
avoid ripoff poorly maintained The Corporate office policies are lousy. Maintenance is poor due to requiring corporate approval for any repairs.. urinals brokes for over a monthin mens room while waiting for corporate approval.. they removed membership discounts to current members during a may 25th price change where they sent out notice after the termination date had past.. thus could not cancel before new 30% price hike went into effect.. beware the corporate office is deceptive and dishonest and can change prices without ... read more
I'd Rather Be Fat Think twice before putting your toddler in childcare. Today was supposed to be my first day, but as we pulled up, there were 20-25 children playing outside in the heat in a fenced area. The kids looked to be from just a few months old to 8 or 9 years old. There were only two "adults" - ie teenage girls - monitoring them. The older ones had basketballs and rubber balls and were throwing them around; the little kids seemed to be hovering near the teens for safety. The inside area was very small for so many ch... read more
Nope. Yes, it is clean. Yes, there is a lot of equipment. I was paying $80 a month for my husband and I and that did not include the tanning rooms. If your husband deploys, he will not be let out of his contract so you eat that money. They casually mention an annual $20 fee for no apparent reason, so make that $100 that month. Yes, the turnover rate for employees (esp. childcare) is high. The employees themselves are golden but they are treated very poorly. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
I like this gym I've been a member now for abt a month and I haven't had any concerns with this gym. I really like the trainers and they have all been very helpful and have always answered any questions or concerns I have had abt equipment or fitness. My children love the childcare center and enjoy going to it. Maybe the complaints are from the past conditions/staff of this gym but as for now I think it is worth every penny I've spent.
Slack Staff The gym is very nice but the kids running it could care less about you once you sign on the bottom line. I once saw a guy have a seizure while working out on the equipment. I thought the guy was dying and ran to get help. The male staff wouldn't budge (they were too busy looking in the mirror at their pecs and biceps). Finally one of the female staff came and called an ambulance. I couldn't believe the slackness.
