The Goldbelt Tram travels up Mount Roberts, which is a 3,819 foot mountain near downtown Juneau, located near the cruise ship docks. The Goldbelt Tram can carry 60 people from sea level to 1,800 feet up the mountain in 6-minutes. It gets its name from the mines in the mountain which opened in 1917, and closed during WWII. Nice trip up the mountain giving amazing views. We spotted a bald eagle perched on one of the trees close to the tram route. There is a restaurant at the top serving great food. There is a viewing platform for photo opportunities and access to hiking trails.
