I came to the hospital with my son at 4pm today, who was assessed by our GP as dehydrated. He hadn’t eaten in two days, had taken in very minimal fluids, and was experiencing diarrhoea. When we arrived at the hospital, he was extremely distressed. We were in the Gold Coast visiting from Sydney with our two young children who both required a visit to the emergency room at this hospital. Every single nurse and doctor we saw were amazing, so kind and caring to both children.

I have been to many drs, hospitals and ERs in my life time. This has to be the upmost terrible one I have experienced. The lack of general duty with compassion and kindness does not exist here. To the nurse in his grey scrubs. That is tanned. With short black/grey hair. When you have a patient in excruciating pain or else. You should always introduce yourself and before touching the person / taking the persons blood pressure. You should firstly speak and vocalise. Absolutely incredible care from both the ambulance team and the hospital staff. From the moment the paramedics arrived, they were calm, professional, and incredibly compassionate. They treated my child with so much patience and reassurance, taking the time to make sure they felt safe and comfortable during what was a very stressful situation. Came in by ambulance this morning which was my first experience of exceptional care. The ambos were just amazing! From there the staff have all gone over and above. Ashleigh has taken care of me this afternoon and evening. Her lovely, sweet nature, is enough to lift the spirits of anybody fortunate enough to come under her care. Well done Ashleigh, I don’t want to be sick anymore but you’ve certainly brightened my day and evening ☺️
