Original Zomato Review 6/27/15 - I saw Gloria Jean's on here and decided to take my wife over to eat lunch. It's about a 30 minute drive from Knoxville, TN to the little town of Kingston. GJ's is located adjacent to a Food City. The decor is quaint--cool, actually. I ordered the fried chicken, fried okra, and pan-fried corn. The wife had meatloaf, green beans, and the corn. Great food, especially the fried green tomatoes appetizer...to die for!!
I have visited on two occasions. Both times the food was delicious but it took way to long to receive it after ordering. Sadly, the second visit wasn't even that busy. If you decide to try the restaurant, don't come too hungry or you will be starving by the time you receive your meal. I hope they can fix their current timing issues in the kitchen.
True southern hospitality from the time you walk in the door. Cuisine is just as authentic as the southern charm the staff exudes. A must try for sure!
Someone told us they were closing soon and I guess they didn't feel the need to be great. Fried Green Tomatoes were good, Red Potatoes had waaaay too much seasoning, my Daughter said the Fried Chicken Breasts were over cooked, and everything else was just so so. If they were to stay open, I would not go back.
