Spent Saturday morning at Glen Allan watching my nephew's hockey practice and was pleasantly surprised by how clean and well kept the rinks were. The staff at the front desk were friendly and pointed me straight to the right arena without any hassle. Parking was plentiful even with multiple games going on, which made the whole visit a lot less stressful. The viewing area had a nice relaxed atmosphere, the kind of spot you could easily spend a weekend morning in without getting bored.
Took the kids for a drop-in skate on Sunday morning and the ice was in great shape, nice and smooth with barely anyone else out there. Parking was easy to find right by the main doors, which made hauling gear in a lot less of a hassle. The staff at the front desk were friendly and pointed us straight to the right rink without any confusion. Nice little community vibe to the whole place, the kind of spot you'd happily make a regular weekend stop.
The gym is nice to go to in the morning or afternoons. Anytime past 5pm and it's impossible to do super sets. There are way too many teenagers/young adults goofing around with equipment, making videos/filming tiktoks, siting on equipment for extended periods of time scrolling on their phones. Caught two teenage girls trying to break into my locker. Some of the gyms equipment upstairs needs updating as well. Very much debating on switching to Planet Fitness.
We usually stop by Glen Allan on Sunday mornings before the rink gets busy and my dog loves sniffing around the grassy edge of the parking lot while we wait. The staff at the front desk always remember her name and never rush us out even when we linger by the entrance. Parking is easy that early, plenty of spots close to the door, and the whole place has a relaxed small town vibe. It is not exactly a dog park but as an arena with a genuinely welcoming setup for pet owners hanging around outside, it is hard to beat.
