Glacier bear lodge is an amazing Alaskan experience. We spent half our trip on the river during the steelhead run and it was incredible. Conditions were perfect and we hooked fish all day with a fantastic guide. The rest of the time we went out on their salt charter and killed the bottom fish. Great experience. We will be back. You will be well taken care of with great food, comfortable accommodations, fantastic hosts and guides and great fishing.
This was my third year staying at GBL under the new ownership after several years staying there under the previous ownership. Many upgrades to the rooms have been made, the rental vehicles were great and Mark Jr. gave us an excellent experince halibut and ling cod fishing. The staff and service is outstanding and all of them go the extra mile to make sure the experience is great. Sept 2025 - 4th time visit to Glacier Bear Lodge. The owners continue to improve the facility. New this year is Wi-Fi in the guest rooms! The guides and staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The food is very good with more than ample portions. I would not return 4 times if it was not a great experience! I’m scheduled again two years out.

I can't say enough good things about Glacier Bear Lodge (GBL). When our usual lodge to fish out of Yakutat had to suddenly shut down early due to a family emergency, Kent, a co-owner of GBL, went above and beyond to not only accommodate the three of us on short notice but also gave us adjacent rooms. He arranged four days of spectacular fishing with expert guides--each day a different experience.
