We provide glacier access to Alaska's famous Matanuska Glacier. Currently access is only available through a guided glacier tour, one of the most frequented glacier tours in Alaska by both Alaska residents and tourists. Check our website for directions, fees, and other tourist information. Glenn Highway affords a spectacular view of the glacier, but access would be impossible for most. Everything online says this glacier is accessible by car. It is NOT! Do not waste your time driving here expecting a easy accessible toursit adventure. My husband is handicapped and when we got to the gate by gift shop they advised that access has been restricted for YEARS. The only way to get close to the glacier is to do thier 150$ per person tour taking 2-3 hours of hiking on the glacier. I do understand how awesome that sounds. your are not allowed to walk at your own to the glacier because it is all private property of a first nation tribe?? and some ghost people would'n like it if you tresspasing by feet?? but you are allowed to go by car if you leave some dollars!! i call it a rib.
