Called a week ahead of time and the lady asked if we had been there before and I let her know that we had just gotten a puppy and needed to bring her in for her first shots and check up. The lady told me I could bring her in Monday at anytime and that there wasn't any need to make an appointment. First time taking Sheba to this vet. They wouldn’t do a culture because of the weekend took her back for the culture. They didn’t call on Friday when they got it back and when I called Saturday they said it will have to wait till Monday. So my poor baby baby has to suffer another two or three days. Five vets on staff and that’s the best you have to offer. Nope I think not. Guess we will keep our 4 fur babies at the current vet.
made 2 visits recently for my siamese cat. 1st visit they said he an ear infection gave him a steroid shot and some teardrops. come to find out the ear drops weren't supposed to be used on cats. 2nd visit my cat couldnt walk, hardly breathe, sneezing, shaking etc. they gave him a shot and took some blood. said 240 a1c is normal and isnt diabetic till over 400. A while back we made an appointment to have our dogs "bump" on his rear checked out as it seemed to be growing. So we get there and because of covid they would only come outside to look at the animals brought out and would determine if they needed to go inside. The person that came out to look at our dog spent all of 3 minutes at most looking at our dog and asking questions and then she says it looks like just a hot spot and to just give some waldryl. Very unprofessional. They don’t take appointments, which is fine, but when I got there I was asked to come back an hour later, which was an inconvenience as I am from out of town. I spoke with 3 different people on the phone to tell them what needed to be done for my dog. I laid everything out with clear directions. When my husband picked up the dog, half of the things outlined in my instructions weren’t done. I don’t even trust that the dog got basic care, as so many details were not addressed or communicated.
If I could put 0 stars, then that is what I would put. But they killed my dog. He was sick and they gave me an antibiotic that was 480 mg when he was only 40-50 lbs. That medicine was suppose to be 1 mg per lb. He was also a heeler mix and it says that medicine was NOT for Heeler mix. He was drooling all over himself and weak. My dog went through a very painful death. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They took my best friend.
Dr. Holder is amazing and truly has the best heart! I’ve used Girard Animal Hospital for regular visits and even to get my pups all the way to Hawaii. My dogs are back now and I will drive a good distance before they are seen by anyone else! I have recently had to meet with Dr. Holder for an after hours visit, unrelated to my own pets, and she was just as great as if I had brought one of my pups in. I can’t get over the compassion and true love for animals that is shown here..thank you for all that you do!
