We told our salesman on initial discussions that our budget for the project was $350,000. They should have known with their experience that after the site development costs, garage, well, taxes etc. ,, that the home we had picked out with the options we decided on was going to be too expensive. They had us sign an earnest money agreement before they would proceed with looking at our site and giving us the site development costs etc.. They charged us a $3000 dollar (non-refundable) fee.
