Established in 1955 by Gilbert Smith and his family, GSFP began business as a Cedar pole plant. The B.C. Forest Investment Fund handed out cash including 1.1 million gift to Gilbert Smith Forest Products. GSF only cuts old growth cedar. Their log decks n Barriere are full of Mountain Caribou habitat. In 2008 they submitted objections to the Forest Minister to say Grizzly bears are killing caribou not logging. Carmen Smith wrote the letter personally. Since the UWR objectives were set in 2008 they have been given numerous exemptions to cut anyway. Great place to load
Staff are great. Nice, easy to talk to. Easy access to yard once you know where you're going. However tarping station is a death trap!!! A ladder and a harness is what you get.😡
