I would strongly caution others before doing business with GFL based on my experience. Unfortunately, I have experienced repeated issues with their service, including trash being left in my yard and not being properly cleaned up. I have also had concerns with the customer service I received. I have been hung up on multiple times. Every time they come to pickup my recycling, it is never fully empty. They left a lovely sticker saying how it is my fault and not theirs. If there was an option to go with someone else, I would.
As of writing this on 2026-07-07: The last time my trash was picked up was 2026-06-16. I have reported this each week, plus the next day whenever they claim they're going to "send a driver" to pick up my trash. They continuously refuse to take my trash. The can is in the alley 24/7 and fully accessible. All my neighbors cans get emptied. There is no reason for this.
GFL damaged my yard waste bin last fall and broke off the front handle pick up bar. It’s now July and they refused to pick up my bin for this missing bar (after picking it up all spring/summer). When I called, the lady was extremely rude, laughed while I was speaking, then stated my only options were to “wait until next week to see if they’ll pick it up” or give them $150 for a new bin.
It's awful to get ahold of them if you have an issue with your residential pickups. Their customer service model needs to be overhauled.
