If I could give 0 stars, I would. My boyfriend and I planned this trip almost a year ago with our dog. We were excited to go blueberry picking and glamp for the weekend. Instead we woke up to inches of water coming out from under the sink. My boyfriend tried to remove our belongings before it got worse while I tried to contact Getaway customer service. BEWARE!!! I woke up with a highly contagious infection about 48 hours before my reservation of two cabins, a trip which was meant to be a gift for my granddaughters, daughter and son-in-law from grandma and grandpa. Before calling my doctor, I immediately called Getaway to let them know that I was contagious and to ask to be rescheduled. I was not aware that they no longer answer phones. Drive 1.5 hours and upon checking in, opened the door and there were about 50-60 huge Carpenter ants all over. Half dead, (looks like they were there for a few days) and half alive and crawling around. All over the floor, on the counter, AND IN THE BED when I lifted up the pillow. Disgusting. When addressed to Management they said “we have housekeeping and pet control” and that was that. No help, nothing. Had to leave as there was no way I’m staying in a cabin filled with ants. Very disappointed and unprofessional.
I am quite disgusted with this company. I booked what I thought was going to be a nice getaway 3 day vacation this past weekend but it turned out to be a complete nightmare. We got in late to the cabin on our first night, and within 1 hour, I started getting horrid allergy symptoms - my nose got congested, my eyes swelled, and I started coughing and wheezing terribly. Had an amazing bday getaway in early august . Went to the east Catskills location. Everything in the cabin was clean and orderly and the bed was so comfortable! It’s not claustrophobic for two people. The cell service was sketchy, so it definitely makes you talk and interacted with the person you came with , but that’s why you’re there right?
