About this business

The space was formerly a small country store for over 90 years after which it was taken over in 1981 and converted into a barbecue joint. Since then, they have been a popular joint offering slow-cooked, hickory-smoked ribs and barbecue, prepared like the old-times in Memphis-style. In addition to meat dishes they also offer delicious sides like deviled eggs and potato salad, pig sticks to name a few. End you meals in true Southern-style with a banana pudding, a homemade delicacy very tasty. The place is simple and has enough... read more

Dirty in general. Air vent beside table where we were served had dirt and dust all over it. The service or like of should be looked into by management. Had to wait for and ask for fork and knife. Pretty rude folks all around! Tight sitting areas with floor drop off's so be careful. Good points-- It was a beautiful day!!

Good, but NOT the best – VERY crowded, very dirty. Food is average for BBQ. We recommend Corkeys or Interstate for a great Memphis dinner

An eating experience – This place is an eating experience; the crowded, rustic atmostphere's probably part of what contributes to the attraction. There have been 4 to 6 of us each visit and we have tried about everything and liked it all. My favorite is the pig fries--french fried sweet potatoes. My 30-something daughter's favorite is bar-b-que nachos of all things! The food is worth returning for. We ask to go here every time we visit our daughter and son-in-law since they took us there after their move to Memphis. The wait... read more

What's all the fuss? – After all of the great things I heard about this place, I have to say I was a bit let down. As a Memphis native, I am very particular to BBQ especially IN the Memphis area. I had the 2 meat plate which came with a small slab of ribs and chopped BBQ. The ribs were not bad, but nothing to write home about either. The Chopped BBQ was mushy and rather tasteless. The service was quite rude and seemed bothered by any sort of request. The place is rather small - so when it begins to get busy, one begins to fe... read more

Good eats, but management was rude when we had an issue with our bill. They treated us pretty bad and it was an error on the part of our server.

Great food! Coconut Cream Pie is Amazing...the perfect end to a great meal! – Food here is great..no doubt. The smell when you walk in is wonderful and the place stays crowded. Crowds can be a negative thing, but not in a restaurant...they are doing something right if they keep the seats filled. My 5 year old loves going to eat there, so does my husband and so do I. We all win! There is something on the menu for everyone and you should go just for the experience if nothing else. The place feels like history must have happene... read more

good food, but the service is interesting.... – Food is always delic, but there are a few servers there that almost make me scared to ask for anything extra..... rough and tough.... certainly makes the experience less than enjoyable.

BBQ must eat – i work at a hotel in germantown and this is the only place i ever recomend for the guests to go. they always come in looking for "real memphis style BBQ" with teh idea that Corky's is that. this is a farce. if you are in the area, that is the tristate area, you simply must have this BBQ.

Long way for so-so BBQ. – Flew 1850 miles and drove 30 miles just to get ?so-so? BBQ. This place it rated as perhaps the ?Q? in Memphis but I didn?t see it. My lunch was pork ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were dry and hard; the silver skin on the backside was like tough paper. The pulled pork was very good and their sauces were on the upside as far a sauce goes. The sweet potato fries were a little too sweet with spice. Ok would I go back? No!
