My 2011 E550 had an intermittent grinding that took several shops forever to diagnose as a bad torque converter. I found German Transmission Co, and had them do a full transmission rebuild and replaced the converter with a new one from Mercedes and even had them replace the transmission and motor mounts so it would drive like a dream.
