I was severely disappointed by the $80 plus dollars spent on a 8 inch cake. The actual appearance of the cake was more in line with a $25 dollar cake at best. When calling to place the order, I was told that the initial appearance of the cake would be different (special holiday decorations) due to the holiday. Customer service was truly excellent and Gerhard's went out of their way to accommodate me. Like others have mentioned, the prices feel high. As I saw the price during purchase I was thinking, "this better be the best Tiramisu I've ever had". It was indeed the best Tiramisu we've ever had. The beautiful presentation made our celebration feel extra special as well. Gerhard's exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to try their other offerings!
I visited this bakery on a few occasions. Exhorbitant prices for average bakes - perhaps they get away with it because they are placed in an upscale neighborhood. Food quality is average. They claim to be a European style bakery - while the aesthetics of the pasteries can be appealing, but the freshness, service and elegance is missing. One time they sold me a pastry that was stale, the bread layer dried up and separated from the cream filling. A wonderful European Bakery...
We had the lobster tail pastry and loved it! Truly European-style; light, not too sweet, and perfectly crisp. The owner and staff were super friendly, and she even told us the story behind bringing lobster tails to the shop. Such a great experience!
