We have maintained our LTC policy with Genworth for about 20 years now. The agent who sold these policies extoled the virtues of Genworth and the fact that their actuaries were so talented that they felt confident that our premiums would not go up significantly. Over the past 5 years they have more than doubled. Genworth reached a settlement in a class action lawsuit where they claimed no wrongdoing, but one has to wonder. We have been trying to reach an agent for over three and a half hours. We keep getting transferred from one department to another, and now they are saying we have to wait 48 hours for a call back. U.S. Corporations no longer care about their customers — we'll take your money, but don't bother us. We're liquidating all with Genworth. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
Mom had an exorbitantly expensive whole life insurance policy with Genworth that we finally convinced her to drop. But she still had $50,000 benefit amount as she had paid so much. Thanks to Genworth outsourced claim support, claiming is dystopian. My brother as executor filed our joint claim. They just would not forward my check. We called at least a half dozen times, always getting the India based call center. If I could, I'd give a 0 but google doesn't allow it!! A previous review by me pointed out 2 recent issues (data breach, premium increase because "we" didn't estimate costs accurately) NOW, on ThinkAdvisor I just read an article about how these clowns are moving ahead with a NEW service called CareScout Tom McInerny, who presided over the two screw-ups, is talking up this new service in advance of a 2025 launch Hopefully AARP will NOT endorse this new product
