Food is Fine. The Service is Fine – If it is noisy, that means some people are having a good time. Doesn't matter to me.
UES Drinking Domain – This place gets packed which is good (except when your meeting people). The staff was very pleasant to us and the manager was hysterical. It's always nice when the people who work there are so down to earth they don't hesitate in pulling up a chair and chatting for a little bit. The key with Genesis is getting there immediately after work to get outdoor seating. The luxury of eating & drinking outdoors during a spring evening in manhattan is what Visa calls. . . .Priceless.
Cute UES Pub – I moved into the area about two months ago and have been to Genesis at least 3 or 4 times since AND have had their food delivered to my apartment at least 3 times. Their menu is simple pub food, but I've never had a bad meal. Their garden wrap is delicious and they have the BEST irish soda bread and great balsamic vinaigrette which is surprisingly hard to find these days. Good pub fare – My wife and I live nearby on the UES, and we have been to Genesis a number of times. I can honestly say that we have always had good food. The menu is typical bar food, and is always served promptly, tastes good and is fairly reasonably priced. This is also a nice, friendly and warm place to enjoy a drink. Would definately recommend.
A great addition to the UES – I don?t know what the other reviews are talking about. I live close to the place. Ok, I will give you the not-so-great waitress service but the food is awesome, the bartenders are friendly and the atmosphere is clean and preppy (a good age mix as well). Give it another try. It is one of my UES favorites!
What a waste... – The first time I went to Genesis, I thought it had a lot of potential for a fun Irish pub on 2nd ave...outside seating, a beer garden outback, decent bar menu, etc. So I suggested it to my girlfriend on a recent Saturday night when we were looking for a low key place to enjoy a few beers and burgers. NOT MY CUP OF TEA! – Fist time ok! Second time, just terrible. The service is terrible, my food was cold and it took forever to come. The manager don't care, I told the staff to call the manager and they said that the manager wasn't there. then I see this guy a the door talking to a customer saying that he is the manager. You know what this place is not gonna make it! Avoid at all cost! Thanks Cinthia Marcello.
Meh. – When this joint first opened up, it was great. and didn't have a lame 2nd avenue upper east side crowd, either. but over its first year, the service has become so obnoxious, we won't go anymore. the waitresses are extremely surly, love to offer you refills on soda, and not mention that they charge you 2.50 for said refill, and generally frown upon telling you what types of beer they have on tap. oh, and doing waitress type stuff, like checking up on you, or bringing a check- those things aint in the cards, either. foo... read more
