Out of the blue, I was contacted via both email and text by GeneScreen, which indicated I had been referred by my (named) hospital for genetic counseling. That was news to me. Further checking has revealed that this mystery referral is news to my chosen hospital as well. Were I to seek genetic counseling, it would be with a top-notch testing firm (where I’m already a registered client, as my hospital team knows) with board-certified genetic counselors on staff. … I would steer clear of GeneScreen.
I was scheduled for a 45 minute call over zoom, the call lasted barely 10 mins. Needless to say, the "genetic counselor" only told me what I already could read from the genetic report. No further insight or expertise. I found it to be a total waste of time. I ended up working with Tandem Genetics, way more knowledgeable.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Genescreen. They returned my voicemails promptly and had great communication throughout the entire scheduling process. We were able to get an appointment within a few days and they even accommodated a last minute time change. Our genetic counselor, Caitlin, was very knowledgable, friendly, and thorough. We are so grateful for their exceptional care and are excited to start our fertility journey as the consult was the last piece needed.
My results and my husbands were sent to Genescreen and we were told they would go over them with us. My husband and I both have forms with our clinic that give the other permission to know all medical things for each of us. When I called for the counseling session, my husband gave the counselor permission to go over things with just me, as he had a meeting to attend, and only one of us really needs to hear what the counselor needs to say. I would not recommend GeneScreen for genetic testing and counseling. I will not use them again either and have provided feedback to my medical clinic to not refer for their services. I echo all the previous reviews as my family and I had a horrible experience with this company. Really poor customer service. I did appreciate my genetic counselor for family testing. However this company withholds your results until you complete a genetic counseling session, which is an additional cost, and then they write the report to where t... read more
