Avast's 'duplicate cleaner' damaged my Windows so badly that it took me a couple hours to get things back to right. Now I can't trust it. They use 'scareware' to exaggerate any operating probs. Questionable ethics, though that is more or less accepted in business. Better alternatives are Windows Security, which has actually gotten pretty good, and Bitdefender of course gets A's across the board. Gen Digital is no worse than a lot of businesses but that isn't saying much.
My experience with AVG’s free trial and cancellation process was extremely frustrating and made me lose all trust in AVG/Gen Digital. I signed up for a free trial that said “cancel anytime.” About 10 days before I was supposed to be charged, I looked up AVG’s support/FAQ instructions for canceling and followed the directions I found.
