It sur sounds like the person that works the front desk needs either fired or retrained!
Took my 87 yo mother to the Geisinger Careworks in Bellefonte PA office for flu like symptoms and she was refused service because she did not have a photo ID with her, she did however have her insurance card but was still refused service. The person checking in patients was so rude it was ridiculous. The patient behind me came out of the office complaining about how rude the receptionist was to her also. My daughter went to get her foot checked for pain she had been having. The woman at the desk is not very helpful and seemed annoyed that my daughter didn't know she had to pay before she received any service. The fact that she had to pay BEFORE she received any service is ridiculous. It is especially frustrating and the system is inadequate. It doesn't matter if you have health insurance or not. My hope is that it gets better sooner than later.
