2003 colonoscopy- cancer found. My husband had surgery to remove it that resulted in temporary colostomy. Several months later reversal of colostomy surgery completed. A few days later he was in severe pain. With Dr. Akerkar's expertise, the problem was resolved. Husband healed and was cancer free. I adore Dr Akerkar! She explains everything so well, I learned so much more about my condition when I switched over to her. She does the absolute most to ensure comfort and happiness in each of her patients

Dr. Akerkar has been my doctor for both colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures for more than 10 years. She always shows much compassion and concern which helps me to relax. Is easy to talk to and takes the time to provide a thorough explanation of the findings and answers any questions. Since I have always had the best experience, my wife changed her doctor and also goes to Dr. Akerkar when she is due for a colonoscopy.
After reading several positive reviews of Dr. Akerkar, I made an appointment with her for a second opinion. Her intelligence, compassion and thoroughness were readily apparent. I have since made her my primary GI doctor.
Had my 3rd colonoscopy this past week. Dr. Akerkar discovered cancer in 2013. Surgery was performed and I have been cancer free ever since. Thanks to Dr. Akerkar.
In 2009 my husband Jay went for a routine colonoscopy which was conducted by Dr. Akerkar a doctor with Digestive Health Specialists. We are forever grateful that he was a patient of Dr. Akerkar. During the colonoscopy the Doctor noticed a very unusual specimen which did not appear to be a polyp but more like an onion peeling. She clipped it and sent it with the others for a biopsy. I think Dr. Akerkar is an amazing doctor. I even went to see her on my birthday just so I was able to see her. She takes her time and really listens to you and your concerns. When I left I felt so much better for having been seen by her. My whole family even sees her when they need to. I would highly recommend her to all of my friends which I have. She is a great doctor which is hard to find these days.
