I went to Gavilan College at age 33. I thought I'd feel like an outsider. All I really wanted to do was learn to type. It was going to increase my ability to find a job. Remember, this was 1981! Instead I was encouraged to take 'this course' and 'that course' since I was there. I smile now when I think our cleverly I was ushered into the college's welcoming and supportive community.
