I spent $31,000 on surgery, plus intake fees and travel, and I called asking for a meeting because, after 11 months and all rehab, my hip still has soreness. I was denied, was suggested to go to my family doctor for X-rays, and told a consult at this point would be $250 because I had waited too long. That is poor service.
I had my private hip replacement on July 23rd at Gateway Calgary and was impressed by the nurses, by Taylor who organzed the arrangement for the surgery, the staff who were friendly and attentive, and by Dr. Illical who was my surgeon. He must be a master of his craft as I had very little pain, could walk comfortably on day 2, and am now, after two weeks, walking unassisted with no problem (I do carry my cane while walking outside in case I need it for balance.)
