Wonderfully surprised based on the comparative pricing in the area. Rooms were clean, well stocked; staff friendly and helpful with not only their establishment but what to do& where to est in the area. My booking site stated continental breakfast but it was much more with both hot and cold foods and beverages available. If I travel this way again
I booked 2 rooms here for 3 people through Expedia. So I personally did not stay here I only booked the room. I am going off of word of mouth of the family members who stayed here 1 night and the major inconvenience.The Expedia reservation said reserve for $0 and my family would pay at the counter when they arrived. One person paid at counter and didn’t receive military discount and my card was charged through Expedia for the other room and shouldn’t have been. Headed to Homestead Crater. It was exactly as advertised, and the guy even held a parking place directly outside our room for us until we arrived (probably 9 pm).
This is an old hotel but the beds are really comfy and they had a wonderful hot breakfast. That's really all I need. So for me it was a great place to stay if u don't need all the bells and whistles. Direct TV, free wifi!!
The Gateway Lodge was a wonderful place. The young owner is also the room cleaner. She gives the room a personal touch, the tissue paper is formed into flowers along with all the towels as well. The rooms are the cleanest rooms we have ever had. We did 9000 miles in this road trip and the Gateway lodge is ranked #1 out of all the motels we used. She also prepares a great breakfast buffet, far beyond what ANY other motel offered.
