Appalling customer service, they use a 3rd party fraud team that was rude and unhelpful and Gateway wasn't much better. They were holding all my payments and couldn't explain what information they wanted from me . I eventually figured out they wanted to know who and why I was paying and I told them and it was legitimate. It didn't seem to satisfy so I kept asking what it was they needed to know ... they hung up on me. I have been with Gateway from early 2000. They went from a Credit Union customer benefit bank to a small bank. Now I'm not sure somewhere in between. Competitive but doesn't quite take care of long term members. I'm still with them since my first car loan 1999 & I can't say I'm entirely happy with the current customer service mortgage loan process.
If you think the customer service of the big 4 banks is bad wait until you experience the call centres and general processes of Gateway. Not equipped for customers who aren’t Australian residents and the call centre staff seem to say whatever it takes to get you off the phone. Recommend recording calls with the call centre so you don’t start to think you’re going insane.
I recently joined Gateway Bank and I've found them exceptionally good to deal with. They've been very responsive and quick, and the people I've spoken to on the phone have been extremely polite and respectful.
We have just transferred our home loan to Gateway with their Green Plus loan. Overall we have been very happy. The interest rates are very competitive and the process has been pretty smooth. The team were helpful and kept us updated as to the progress of our application and settlement along the way.
