When Peggy Johnston owned the place, it was about the animals. since she sold it, it's about the money. I had one of my dogs in there recently and was missed diagnosed now she needs to be put down. Gates county animal clinic is not as it once was. Now I need to find a new vet.

Was scheduled for dental surgery but I decided to get a second opinion. The second doctor took one look at my dogs bloodwork and told me if he was put under for surgery he might not survive it. When I called the office to speak to the first doctor she would not talk to me. They wanted me to make an appointment. When I told them about what the other Dr said the secretary called me back and told me the other Dr was correct. So there charge of $1,100 was more important then the life of my dog. My mom took me to see Dr Whalen and Dr. Boyce a few months ago because I had some really strange symptoms. They quickly examined me and found out I had a life-threatening condition that required immediate surgery. They also discovered that I had heartworms and arthritis. Back in 2009, I took my Chihuahua there with parvo—they kept him five days, no visitors, no pain meds. I had to rush him to another vet who fixed him in twenty-four hours. Years later, in 2025, same dog was dying. I gave them another shot—got there before lunch, they said fine.
